What are the different types of breathwork?

Functional Breathwork is breathwork that increases awareness around respiration on a day-to-day basis. 80%+ of the population are now over breathing (too fast, too hard and too shallow) and this can ripple dis-ease across the mind, body and soul.

Learning how to breathe again with functional breath work techniques and tools can improve health conditions and body functioning in life changing ways. When one restores breathing efficiency one may experience: better overall health, more energy, greater sense of mental clarity, better sleep, improved digestion, a better immune response, and too, a reduction in stress and anxiety.

Functional breathwork is the modality you’d look to if you were wanting to address: endurance, sleep apnea, breathlessness, snoring, asthma, mouth breathing, allergies and compromised immune system function.

In Pranayam sessions we are working with the energy body and using specific techniques to expand and increase our prana (life force energy). Without proper cultivation of our prana, we may experience elevated levels of fatigue, stress, burn out, anxiety, sickness, and depression. When working with these techniques you can decrease stagnation, disease and mental distress in the body and experience increased health and vitality through activation of the Nadi system.

Sacred Breathwork, also known as Conscious Connected Breathwork, is an advanced type of breathwork which uses a technique to alter the breathers blood chemistry. With guided use of this technique one can experience a shift in brain waves and access altered states of consciousness. This type of breathwork can feel quite similar to to psychedelics and plant medicine and can bring about life-changing realisations and releases.

Facilitated safely and with experienced practitioners, Conscious Connected Breathwork can be an extremely powerful tool on one’s journey home as we are able to penetrate the subconscious mind (the part of our brain that runs 95% of your life). Here we have an opportunity to meet repressed textures and beliefs and invite them forth for alchemy and expression. These spaces are deeply medicinal, empowering and restorative to the mind, body and soul.
